Headers - How to use headings on your website?

Headers play a key role on nearly all websites. They attract visitors and make it easier to navigate the site. The correct use of headers has a positive effect on the high positioning of the website in the search results. Below we show you how to add a header step by step in BOWWE!

Benefits of using headers:

  • More clicks!
Great headlines aren't just useful for blog articles. It is no secret that a well-structured header can provide more clicks to given content, positively influencing CTR (click-through-rate). Keep this in mind when creating your own headlines.
  • Intuitive navigation
Internet users rarely read all the content on a given website. They only look for what interests them the most. If they don't find it, they leave and no longer return to the site. Therefore, you need to give them what they want quickly. The headlines that can easily separate information and select the most important ones will help you in this.
  • Better positioning
Search engine indexing robots carefully "scan" your website and analyze whether it is user-friendly, and the content on it - arranged.
  • Better presentation of your offer
If you look at your favorite pages, you will quickly notice that they make use of the headlines. They are a great way to present your offer in an attractive way. Use them to attract more customers.

How to add a header on a page in the BOWWE wizard?

Headers hierarchy. Why should you know it?

There is a 6-stage hierarchy of headings, determining their order on the page. According to it, each heading takes the value from H1 to H6.

Using headers will allow you to position your website higher in search engines ... but only on one condition. You must add them in the correct order!

Remember about:

Selecting the H1-H6 class of the header, affects its size. You can always change it, but remember that higher class headers should usually be larger. In other words: if your H2 headers are 30px in size, don't enter H3, H4, H5 and H6 headers larger than 30 px!

When to use specific types of headlines?

H1 header

The H1 header defines the title of your website. The H1 heading appears most often at the top of the page. In the case of the page you are on, this is "Headings H1-H6. How do I use them?". Each page can only have one title. Therefore, you can only set the H1 value to one headline on your website.

H2-H6 headings

All headings from H2 to H6 are subheadings. Their purpose is to better organize the content on your site. What differs is the order in which they should be used.

If your site has only a few headings, you only need to give them an H2 value. An example of an H2 header on the page you are on right now is "What is the header hierarchy?". What about in a situation where your page is more elaborate? Then you should use the next in order of heading types, that is, H3, H4, H5 and H6, as appropriate.

An example of the correct use of headings

Imagine that you are writing a blog article about iconic sports cars.

So what might an example of the correct order of headings on your site look like?

H1 (title): Iconic Sports Cars You Must Know!

H2: German sports cars

H3: Porshe cars

H4: Porshe 911

The more detailed content you present on your site, which requires you to introduce subtopics or subcategories - you should reach for more headings, according to the order H2-H6.

Now you know the correct headline hierarchy necessary for high positioning!
